Monday September 9: A conversation for the car or dinner table: do you know what an acronym is? [a word/term formed from the 1st letters of several letters] You probably know of some acronyms even if you don’t know the word! There’s LOL, USA, SCUBA, RADAR, FBI. Can you think of some others?
Tuesday September 10: The words of the day will be Cooperation and Assertiveness. Share a time when you have stood up for something or someone and a way you need to cooperate with others in your day. It’s also Back-to-School Night! Check out the C.A.R.E.S. messages and posters when you’re at school. A great read loud for cooperation: "It's Mine" by Leo Leoni Try "One" by Katherine Otoshi for a story about standing up for others.

Thursday September 12: Empathy is the focus. Empathy is like a muscle. It needs exercise to grow strong! Play a feelings guessing game by taking turns making faces and guessing what the other is feeling and why.
Friday September 13: Self Control is so critical for adults and children. Check out this website for some great ideas! https://www.parentingscience.com/teaching-self-control.html
The Zones of Regulation is a curriculum we use for teaching self-regulation in school. Each zone is identified by a color: blue for low energy feelings like sadness, green is “alert, focused, and ready to learn, yellow for escalating emotion, and red for out of control.
Students! Wear green on Friday to show you are alert, focused, and ready to learn.
