Meet Ms. Vining
Hello Crozet! My name is Juliannah Vining. I am the Social Emotional Learning Counselor at Crozet Elementary for the 2021- 2022 school year. I recently moved to the area from the Northeast, growing up in Upstate New York. I received my undergraduate degree from Syracuse University in human development and my graduate degree from Boston University in child life and family centered care. I have previously worked in pediatric healthcare as a Child Life Specialist. Through collaboration with administrators, teachers, and staff I will be providing services to individuals and groups using hands-on interventions and activities (coping strategies, yoga and meditation) to help meet student's social and emotional needs. I will be a support to students who are in crisis, who are struggling with emotional regulation, and who need help with developing social and emotional skills to thrive this school year. My goal is to help normalize emotions and to then provide our students with creative outlets. I look forward to the year ahead and helping our students navigate our new normal.

SEL and COVID-19

SEL is an integral part of human development and education. Students continue to face difficulties and challenges as a result of COVID-19 and the rapidly-changing, complex world we live in. These results have impacted the way they learn, play, and interact with others.
Now, more than ever before, schools, families, and communities need to establish learning environments and experiences that are supportive of our students social and emotional needs. Students require additional supports to help them address these difficulties and challenges. Through SEL, students will be reconnected to their school.
SEL is being emphasized across Albemarle County to promote social and emotional development in order to empower students and contribute to a safe, healthy community.
